Celebrate Highlands Act 10th Anniversary: Pool Party & Picnic on August 10th

This year marks the tenth anniversary since the Highlands
Act was passed, putting in place critical protections for one of the most
environmentally sensitive and ecologically important areas in our state.

The Highlands region provides drinking water to 5.5 million
New Jersey residents, about 64% of the state!
The region is home to numerous threatened and endangered species and
some of the state’s most beloved parks including Round Valley, Waterloo
Village, Lake Hopatcong, and Pyramid Mountain.
The Highlands Act protects these resources for future generations
through good planning and environmental safeguards.

Join the Sierra Club on August 10th to celebrate
ten years of Highlands protections the best way we know how: picnicking &
swimming at the Highlands
Natural Pool
and hiking in Norvin Green State Forest!

Festivities kick off at 9:30 and include lunch, all day
access to the Highlands Natural
Pool
, and options for an easy and moderate hike through the Highlands.  During lunch Jeff Tittel, Director of the New
Jersey Sierra Club, will discuss why and how the Highlands Act was passed, what
we have achieved in the past 10 years, and what the next ten years may hold for
the region.
