How to Reverse Facebook's Attempt to Change Your Email Address

Facebook changed your email address on your profile. We'll help you change it back.

Facebook changed your profile without telling you.

Facebook changed everyone's default emails to their @facebook.com accounts. Your personal and work email accounts are still in the system, but only the Facebook account is listed.

If you are like most of us and never use your Facebook email account, you'll want to add your regular email addresses to your account's profile page. Here's how:

  1. Go to your profile page. Click the "About" link under your profile picture.
  2. Scroll down to the Contact Info box. Click "Edit."
  3. You'll find a section called "Emails." This is where you can add/display your email addresses. If you don't want your Facebook email displayed, click on the circle drop-down menu to the right of the email address and select "Hidden from timeline."
  4. To display your other email addresses, click on the circle drop-down menu to the right of the email address you want and select "Shown on Timeline."

(Click through the pictures on this article to see the above steps illustrated.)

If you do want to use your Facebook email address, you still can. Those emails will be delivered to your Facebook messages inbox.
