Fort Lee Man Indicted For Murder, Ironman to Close Hudson Terrace In Top News

A Bergen County Grand Jury handed up a two-count indictment Monday charging Charles J. Ann with murdering Aena Hong, whom he allegedly ran over with his car multiple times outside the Fort Lee Community Center in February.

Police say the road, which is being used for the triathlon, will close on Aug. 11 from 12:01 a.m. to about 10 p.m. No parking will be allowed there, and traffic will be diverted, as officials face a “complex operation.”

A Palisades Park woman and a three-year-old child suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when they were hit by a car driven by an 87-year-old Fort Lee woman at the intersection of Center Avenue and Whiteman Street, according to police.

Two men were charged with disorderly conduct Thursday morning after an alleged struggle over a carpool ride at the George Washington Bridge, police said. The incident happened at about 9:45 a.m. at a Fort Lee bus stop on I-95 under Lemoine Avenue, where drivers looking to take advantage of the Port Authority’s discount for carpoolers typically pick up passengers.

Steven Engravalle was officially approved as Superintendent through 2015, and Sharon Amato was approved through June 2013, with the issue of merit pay yet to be determined.

Construction and repair work at the borough’s public schools approved by Fort Lee voters in January remains on track for the opening of school on Sept. 10—with just one exception.
