Bergen County Under Tornado Watch Tuesday

A tornado watch has been issued in Bergen County for the second time in less than two weeks. Bergen and surrounding counties in nothern NJ and NY are under the watch until 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS)

Showers and thunderstorms are predicted to continue throughout Bergen and surrounding counties through Wednesday morning, the NWS says.

The NWS issued a wind advisory for western Bergen County from noon to midnight Tuesday. Strong and gusty winds of 15 to 25 mph, with some gusts as high as 50 mph are also predicted.

There is also a hazardous weather outlook in effect for the area with heavy rainfall, flash flooding and isolated tornados possible, the NWS said.

Here's a look at the latest NWS forecast for Fort Lee for Tuesday and Wednesday:

Tuesday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Low around 61. Breezy, with a south wind 18 to 23 mph becoming west 11 to 16 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Wednesday: A chance of showers before 7am. Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 72. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
