Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation

Free Rabies Clinic  & offering HomeAgain Micro-chipping

Bergen County Protect & Rescue, Bergen County Humane Enforcement along with various participating towns, are hosting free rabies clinics and also offering micro-chipping from HomeAgain, a leading micro-chip company, for local residents’ pets for a small donation of $25.00 to Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation.   1 in 3 pets go missing during its lifetime and without proper ID, 90% never return home.  HomeAgain gives your pet the best chance for a happy homecoming.

For the free rabies clinic and for micro-chipping, Bergen County Protect & Rescue and Bergen County Humane Enforcement Agents will be located at the following locations:

  • June 18 at 6:00pm at the Palisades Park Firehouse located at 275 Broad Ave.
  • June 20 at 6:00pm at the Ridgefield Ambulance Corps, 234 Main St.
  • June 25 at 6:00pm at the Cliffside Park Firehouse, 525 Palisade Ave.
  • June 27 at 6:00pm in Fort Lee.  Currently, BC Protect & Rescue is waiting for confirmation on location and date. Updated information can be found both on Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation web sites at www.BCRescues.org or at Bergen County Humane Enforcement web site at www.BCHENJ.org .  All major credit cards and cash are accepted.  Please, no checks.

HomeAgain microchip is much more reliable than a collar and a tag because there is no chance it will fall off.  The microchip is a permanent ID that links your pet to you.  Here is how it works:  The microchip is inserted with a simple injection.  It will not hurt your pet and no more discomfort than a vaccination.  No surgery required and is a one-time insertion with a syringe.  Simply enroll your pet’s ID code along with your contact information.   Enrolling is what makes it possible for your pet to be positively identified.

For additional micro-chipping opportunities, please call BCPR to have your pet micro-chipped at the Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation shelter for a small donation of $39.99.  Call to schedule your appointment with the shelter manager at 201-945-0649.  Bergen County Protect & Rescue is located at 302 2nd St., Cliffside Park, NJ.

According to Officer Vincent Ascolese, Bergen County Humane Enforcement Agent and Bergen County Protect & Rescue Volunteer Supervisor states, “This is a great way for residents to update their pets rabies vaccination without any expense and with a nominal donation, to help reunite lost animals to their owners by micro-chipping.  We are excited to be able to participate in this clinic along with the participating towns to help serve our community.  Our mission is to help educate the public on humane procedures and answer any questions one may have.  We are a small group of volunteers at the shelter trying to make a difference in the lives of our animals and in our community saving one life at a time”.

The donation fee for micro-chipping is to help offset costs the Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation incurs each month.  All donations will be placed towards medical bills, food and spay/neuter for animals in its care.  BCP&R is a volunteer, no-kill, non-profit animal rescue group who works in the Eastern Bergen County helping animals in need.  The lease for the small shelter is $3,000 per month.  Volunteers raise the much-needed funds by its adoptions, fundraising and related events.

If you are interested in volunteering your time, or even to help foster an animal with Bergen County Protect & Rescue Foundation, please visit us during shelter operation hours or visit our website for a volunteer application.  BCPR not only measures its success on the amount of funds we raise, but on the number of lives we can save.  Opt to Adopt!
