Governor Christie Addiction

Donut Fiasco was not Presidential

Now that he seems poised for a White House run, Governor Christie needs to stop being in denial about his obesity. Recent actions by the Governor underscore a failure to acknowledge or confront his food addiction.

First, Governor Christie appeared on David Letterman's late night talk show, pulled out a jelly donut, and ate it. Governor Christie then joined in while David Letterman made fun of the Governor's ever expanding girth.

Responding to Governor Christie's pathetic behavior, former White House doctor Connie Mariano expressed concern over the Governor's health risks as a result of his weight. More particularly, Dr. Mariano spoke on CNN about risks of a heart attack or a stroke. "It's almost like a time bomb waiting to happen unless he addresses those issues," Mariano said.

Upon receiving word of Dr. Mariano's comments, Governor Christie lashed out. Governor Christie's temper got the best of him again. He called Dr. Mariano "another hack who wants five minutes on TV," and contended that he is "the healthiest fat guy you've ever seen in your life."

Dr. Mariano, a Republican, said she just wants the Governor to lose weight. "I'm a physician more than I'm a Democrat or Republican. And I'm worried about this man dying in office."

A food addict is not unlike a person addicted to alcohol, drugs, sex or gambling. If Governor Christie had any of those addictions, the public would (at the very least) demand that he get treatment prior to running for higher office.

If he is serious about running for President, it is time for Governor Christie to take action.

Maybe he wakes up everyday saying, "I won't pick up." But then......

Speaking of pathetic behavior, what is your opinion of Senator Menendez questionable activities, now under investigation by the FBI. Even the NY Times concedes that he is stonewalling investigators, or is your criticism only for Republicans?

My concern about Governor Christie has nothing to do with Democrats and Republicans. I am very leery of Senator Menendez; always have been.
