Pancake House to Open in Paramus at Old Pizza Hut Location

Hoboken's Stacks to open second location on 17

Bagels weren’t enough for Andrew Cohen, Eliot Cohen and Scott Handler.

The owners of Ridgewood’s Wide World of Bagels and several other bagels shops for three decades, in December of 2009 unveiled a surprise on Hoboken’s trendy, downtown Washington Street: Stacks Pancake House & Cafe, where 22 varieties of pancakes, as well as omelets, burgers, salads, sandwiches, milkshakes, coffees and other sorts of drink concoctions were served.

And now, the trio has opened a second Stacks at the old Pizza Hut location on Route 17 in Paramus. The week of May 23, Stacks will open its doors for the first time in Paramus, and the Grand Opening will be a fun-filled day featuring numerous on-site activities, including a  pancake eating Contest, a pancake decorating event, a Stacks-ing tournament, and much more. They will also be celebrating dads on Father’s Day weekend with a special program.

The popularity of Stacks numero uno was the impetus to open establishment number two. “Since opening last year, Stacks has been one of the most popular eateries in Hoboken. Numerous North Jersey residents who visited Hoboken asked if we would ever open near them. There is nothing like Stacks in Bergen County, so we expect the same results,” said Eliot Cohen via email.

The location was a no-brainer. Paramus is the main hub of Bergen County business, and Route 17 is most trafficked road in the county. If you combine that with the intersecting Route 4 and arteries like the Garden State Parkway, the logic is further cemented. Also, Stacks, like the departing Pizza Hut, offers residents and business people a family restaurant.

“No one,” claims Eliot Cohen, “can rival the quality and freshness of our foods. The fruits and other ingredients are never artificial, or canned. All of this springs from a menu with a generous selection of American comfort cuisine items.” And those pancakes. “Pancakes are perfect for any meal, and Stacks is going to be the home of the premier pancakes in Paramus. Stacks serves 22 varieties of pancakes in a family-friendly environment, including pancake wraps, one of the most delicious and innovative foods you'll ever eat.”

The Paramus location will feature the same menu, décor, and trendy, family style atmosphere that Stacks loyalists know and love, but the Paramus eatery, the more centrally located of the two Stacks eateries, figures to draw from a much larger area.

Stacks Pancake House & Cafe also plans on giving back to the Paramus community by intending to support the Paramus Junior Baseball league, Paramus Junior Lacrosse and local soccer. Stacks also will be open all day and night both Friday and Saturday, offering their great family food and environment to teens as a fun and safe place to eat and socialize.

“Finally,” assures Eliot Cohen, “home delivery every day is always a huge help to all those dual income families looking for good meals in a time-crunched world.”
