Home Decorating Store Maintains Fashion Savvy

Buy blinds, shades, floor covering, paint and more to do it all.

Fort Lee's family-owned moved to Fort Lee in 1959. It provides custom window treatment by Hunter Douglas and is known for it's service, advice, reliability and honesty.

The company started as a hardware store in 1915 at 73rd and Broadway in North Bergen and was founded by Bernard John, the grandfather of Jon Mangano, Sr., owner of Mangano's Home Decorating Center.

After the war, his sons opened two other stores from 1915 to 1940 in West New York and Guttenberg.

Jon Magano, Sr. transformed the store to home decorating after his father retired in the mid 1960s. He offered wall covering of different designs, textures and fabrics, colorful paints, a wide assortment of Hunter Douglas brand shades and blinds, carpeting and hardwood flooring.

The Hunter Douglas window treatments include auto window shades, balloon window shades, fabric roller shades, arch window shades, solar roller shades and insulated window shades. For any type of decorating, there's a match to fit any and every decor.

"The future looks good - this year is the busiest year we've had yet and it keeps getting better," said Jon Sr.

Jon Jr., a fourth generation Mangano, is helping build up the business more and more. The showroom, along with sales, service and installation, is also on the rise.

"Economic times really have had no real effect on us," said the younger Mangano. "In the 90s, the business dipped a  little but has bounced back. For myself and for any business going forward, I believe in giving good advice, being reliabile and responsible to whatever you commit to. We'll be celebrating our 100th anniversary in 2015. What could be better?"

With you go into Managano's with an idea set in your mind or not, a visit to the story will only bring satisfaction. Whatever home decorating advice you need or decorating dream you wish to fulfill, Jon Sr. or Jon Jr. will suggest just how to achieve that image.

Mangano’s serves Fort Lee and Bergen County’s residential and business customers. They are located at 1201 Anderson Ave. Call them at 201-224-5111.
