Dog On It Holding Grand Opening Saturday

The dog daycare will hold its grand opening Saturday afternoon.

Fort Lee’s high-end dog daycare will cut the ribbon Saturday, gearing up to give a vacationing families’ pets a vacation of their own this summer season.

Dog On It opened five months ago on Bridge Plaza North, offering what owner Bridgette Pursley calls a “luxury” boarding for the pets of many commuters passing on their way to the George Washington Bridge. The daycare provides a curbside service that picks up the dogs for a morning walk and a full day’s stay.

“It’s kind of like we give a home away from home for the spoiled dog,” says  Pursley, who came into the business after finding that there were few options to give her own pets a comfortable stay while she was away.

“I created the type of business that my dog would have loved,” she says, “and would have felt at home and comfortable in...I couldn’t find a facility that he would want to stay in while I was away.”

While most dog daycares offer few amenities, she says, Dog On It goes an extra step by offering dogs three walks a day—five for overnight stays—and meals suited to the tastes of individual pups.

One particular boarder, for example, preferred a piece of grilled chicken with his nightly dinner. “No facility was willing to do that when they went on vacation,” says Pursley, but Dog On It was willing to serve up the fresh meat.

Dog On It also offers baths and grooming, and with an interior decorated by sofas and comfortable beds, its guests might even take some liberties their owners don’t allow.

“The best seat in town is the window seat overlooking the George Washington Bridge,” Pursley notes.

Dog On It’s grand opening will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
