One-Woman Play, ‘Tea for Three’ at Fort Lee Library Sunday

Emmy Award-winning actress tackles the roles of three first ladies.

The announced a special celebration Sunday honoring Presidents’ Day and Valentine’s Day—a performance of the one-woman play, “Lady Bird, Pat & Betty: Tea for Three.”

The play “offers portraits of three formidable first ladies,” according to program organizers.
Emmy Award-winning actress Elaine Bromka takes on the roles of Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon and Betty Ford in the “thought-provoking perspective on the politics of love, devotion and ‘first ladydom,’” according to organizers.

“[It’s] an unforgettable play, offering insights into each leading lady’s life with humor and poignancy,” they said.

Bromka’s professional acting career has spanned more than 30 years. She’s appeared in films like Uncle Buck and Without a Trace, and her television credits include numerous roles, including E.R., The Sopranos, Providence, Dharma & Greg, Sisters, L.A. Law, Law and Order, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Days of Our Lives and alongside Vanessa Redgrave in the Emmy Award-winning Playing for Time, according to her bio online.

Bromka also won an Emmy Award herself for her performance in Catch a Rainbow.

Admission is free for Bromka’s performance of “Tea for Three,” which she has performed at more the 65 venues.

The play takes place Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at the public library on Main Street in Fort Lee.
