The Fort Lee Film Commission and the Fort Lee Historical Society invite all to the March 2nd opening night reception (8-10 PM)  of the new exhibit at the Fort Lee Museum (1588 Palisade Avenue) Reel Jersey Girls: A Centennial Celebration of the Women Filmmakers of Fort Lee. This exhibit will highlight the role of such women filmmakers as Alice Guy Blache.  Madame Blache, the first women director in cinema history, built and opened her Solax Studio here in Fort Lee in 1912.  Among the other Reel Jersey Girls we will celebrate is the first sex symbol of the American silver screen - Theda Bara.  Bara worked at Fox Studio in Fort Lee from 1915-1919 and here in Fort Lee she made some of her most important films including Sin (1915).  This exhibit will showcase archival photos from Theda Bara's personal scrapbook.  We thank film historian Joe Yranski for lending these photos for this exhibit.

Museum hours are weekends from Noon to 4 PM and Wednesday evenings from 7-9 PM.  Groups visits can be made by appointment for weekdays.  The March 2nd opening night reception is from 8-10 PM and open to the public.  For further info call the Fort Lee Film Commission at (201) 693-2763 or visit www.fortleefilm.org.
