Dreams of Paris

“Dreams of Paris” with Maksim Shtyrov and Alina Kiryayeva, a program dedicated to works for clarinet and piano written by the most preeminent French composers of the Twentieth Century.  The recital is a true showcase of the clarinet.  In their works, French masters were able to discover the true soul of the instrument with its enigmatic
sound and colorful expressive capabilities, and show Paris audiences that the clarinet could be one of the most virtuosic instruments of the woodwind family.

Already an acclaimed artist of his home country, Belarus, clarinetist Maksim Shtrykov was recently hailed for “clarity that’s viscerally breathtaking…” and “effortless…quicksilver legato…”  Maksim continues to win over audiences with his
profound musical sensibility and flawless technique. As the recipient of The Artist International New York Debut Award, he presented his solo debut recital at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in April 2007. Since his orchestra debut recital at age
fourteen, he has appeared as a regular guest soloist with the Belarusian State Symphonic Orchestra and the Belarusian State Chamber Orchestra.  Mr. Shtrykov holds
a degree of Master of Music from The Juilliard School.  Currently he is pursuing his Doctoral program at the Graduate Center of The City University of New York, studying with Mr. Neidich.

Praised for her powerful command of the instrument, unique interpretations, and clarity of sound, Alina Kiryayeva captivates audiences with her charismatic stage
presence. Alina has performed with Maksim Shtrykov since 2005 and is recognized internationally as an accomplished recitalist and collaborative artist.  A native of Ukraine, she had her first solo recital at age eight and her solo debut with orchestra at the age of eleven.

Ms. Kiryayeva has toured across Ukraine, Russia, Mexico, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, and the United States.  She has performed with the Kharkov State Philharmonic and State Opera Theatre Orchestras, The Imperial Valley Symphony Orchestra, and The New York Symphonic Ensemble Orchestra.  Completing her Bachelor
of Music and Master of Music Degrees as a scholarship recipient at The Juilliard School, she is entering the Doctoral Program at The Graduate Center of the City
University of New York.

Admission for this program is free; seating is limited.  Children under eight years must be accompanied by an adult.
