On Thursday, the critically acclaimed 2011 film The Help will be screened at 2 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.

“Based on the best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett and starring Emma Stone and Viola Davis, this ensemble piece is about a young journalist who decides to write a controversial book from the point of view of the maids (known as 'the help'), exposing the racism them faced as they worked for white families in Civil Rights-era Jackson, Mississippi,” according to a description of the film provided by the Fort Lee Public Library.

Libby & Co. Performance (Sunday)

On Sunday, Jan. 22, the Fort Lee Public Library will “welcome back” Libby & Co. for a 2 p.m. performance—the first of two winter jazz concerts at the library this month, according to organizers.

The ensemble is led by composer, saxophonist and reed player Libby Richman and will play jazz standards and original songs from the CD “Open Strings.”

“[Richman’s] love of guitar inspired the music for “Open Strings,” her latest recording,” organizers said.
