George Washington Bridge Lit Green To Honor Girl Scouts

Color signifies 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting and will continue throughout November

The Port Authority lit the “necklace lights” on the George Washington Bridge green Wednesday night to mark the kickoff of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting.

In October, the lights were pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

On Nov. 13, the Girl Scout Councils of New Jersey will hold a ceremonial “bridging” event, with thousands of Girl Scouts—as many as 5,000, they say—walking across the bridge starting at Martha Washington Way in Fort Lee to commemorate the occasion.
