Fort Lee Emergency Services Host Blood Drive Friday

Emergency Services Blood Drive at the Recreation Center Friday

The Fort Lee Ambulance Corps. is coordinating an Emergency Services Blood Drive on Friday, Jan. 25, from 2pm to 8pm at the Fort Lee Recreation Center.

Community Blood Services of Paramus, a not-for-profit organization that supplies blood and blood products to more than 30 hospitals in the New Jersey and New York region, will be providing staff and equipment to collect blood from donors.

According to a representative from Community Blood Services, the unit of blood you give may be used to help save up to three lives. Your blood can be separated into red cells, platelets, and plasma. Red blood cells are used to treat patients who are anemic. Plasma can be used to treat patients in shock due to fluid loss as a result of burns. Platelets are used to help treat patients with leukemia.
