Spend Your Summer On Stage

THE GARAGE THEATRE GROUP OFFERS ALL NEW SUMMER CAMPS

The Garage Theatre Group is offering a variety of classes for children ages three and a half and up this summer. " We have revamped our program to fit anyone's schedule, needs and talent level", said Artistic Director Michael Bias, "from traditional acting and singing classes to intensive camps."

Celebrating its 20th year of providing outstanding theatrical learning experiences that develop leadership, emphasize responsibility, and foster teamwork in a supportive, respectful environment, The Garage is offering four two-week camp sessions for older children beginning June 30th and running through August 22nd.

In each two-week session, campers will rehearse a play that they will perform on the final Friday night. Performances will be open to the community. These two-week sessions run from 9:00am - 4:00pm and are for children 10 -15 years of age. Campers will perform a different play each session, so can join for one, two, three, or all four sessions and know that children will have a different experience each time.

For younger children, the Garage is offering weekly classes. For three-and-a-half to five year olds, GTG has Storytellers. This class is designed for creative preschoolers and brings familiar stories to life using movement, music and games. Children will become their favorite characters and create plays of their own. This is a fun way for beginners to experience the joy of theatre.

For ages five through seven, GTG offers The Mini Players, a must for every creative child. This class incorporates pantomime, sounds and simple plays in a fun, exciting environment. Children are encouraged to use their imaginations to the fullest, as well as to create as a team. This is an excellent introduction to theater.

And for six to eight year olds, I Wanna Sing and Dance. This class focuses on the basics of singing and dancing for musical theater. Children learn to sell a Broadway song through voice and movement, and have a lot of fun doing it!

All camps and classes are held at The Becton Theatre on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck.
