Gesher Shalom is a Conservative, egalitarian synagogue affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. It is a spiritual, cultural and social learning center located in the heart of Fort Lee. Given its convenient location, the synagogue boasts members from Manhattan, Bergen, Passaic, Essex and Union Counties. The modest-looking but expansive building houses a gym, a sanctuary, a social hall and multiple classrooms. The synagogue offers adult education, a Hebrew school, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah program, youth groups, a sisterhood and men's groups. It also hosts special events throughout the year such as its holiday bazaar and cabaret.

Formerly known as the Jewish Community Center of Fort Lee, Gesher Shalom changed its name shortly after the events of 9/11. Gesher Shalom, which translates as "Bridge of Peace" is so named because of its proximity to the George Washington Bridge. But honoring its history and the legacy of its founding members, the synagogue also retains its original name.
