At the age of 11, Silvester “Doogie” Eduardo learned to skateboard when his older brother, Glenn, went out to learn with his friends in Fort Lee's Coytesville Park. Now 17, the younger brother excels in what his older brother spearheaded, flipping his board and crossing borders. Eduardo, a Fort Lee High School junior, inspired by skateboard videogames and professionals like Andrew Reynolds, is now a professional-level-bound skateboarder--complete with endorsement deals--regularly boarding through the streets of New York and New Jersey.  “I skate around Whitey Lang Park now that they built the…
This week’s Whiz Kid honors go to Fort Lee National Little League player Han Kyed Lee, who may not have won himself a suit from tailor and baseball fan Abe Stark for hitting a bull’s eye sign in centerfield at Ebbets Field, but did accomplish Mickey Mantle-like fame for hitting the Fort Lee Film Commission’s sign at the National League field, winning himself four movie tickets. “When I hit the target, not knowing about getting a prize, my coach told me afterwards, ‘You got the big hit!’” he said.  “I was just trying to hit the ball, but my teammates told me to tell Donna [Brennan], and she …

Cole Middle School’s center-island garden from a weed-infested mess to a true garden they could truly be proud of. Their …
Caitlin McKenna is a freshman at Fort Lee High School and is having a freshman year that few have ever experienced before her. She not only made the Fort Lee soccer team, Caitlin cracked the starting lineup for the Lady Bridgemen and even picked up postseason awards in the Big North Conference (Division VII) for her play. Caitlin then added to her resume by trying out for the Fort Lee softball team, earning a starting spot in center field as well as becoming the leadoff hitter for the playoff team as a freshman. Surprisingly, this is nothing new for the 14-year-old student athlete. Caitlin …
