Company is seeking to build 143-foot high office in Englewood Cliffs
Mediation between lawyers for a group preservationists and LG Electronics is ongoing after the effort to find common ground in a lawsuit to block the company's proposed Englewood Cliffs headquarters began early this month, representatives for both sides said Monday. At issue is LG's plan to build a 143-foot high office complex visible above the Palisades in Englewood Cliffs. The preservations say the building will tarnish the scenic cliffs. Both sides clamored to make their case through the media, including advertisements and press events. Throughout the dueling public relations campaigns, both sides have maintained …

HUMC-Pascack Valley CEO Chad Melton wants the hospital to increase bed counts within the next few years, according to northjersey.com. Melton said he doesn't think Bergen competitors will "lose volume" as a result.
With Valley Hospital struggling to modernize its own facilities through a controversial expansion project, a major competitor announced it too has visions of expansion – and it's not even open for business yet. According to a Sunday report on northjersey.com, Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley is optimistic its new facility will drum up enough business to quickly expand. Pascack Valley Hospital declared bankrupcy in 2007 and has been dormant since. “If we truly have the volume here and the support we think, within the next three years we’ll be looking to add inpatient rooms,” Chad Melton, chief executive of the 128-bed hospital, told the news website. HUMC-Pascack Valley, scheduled to open June 1, is the first for-…

Strictly Bicycles, operating in Fort Lee now for nearly twenty years and located at the gateway of prime bike routes for New York riders, has become a hub for tri-state area cyclists. That broad and devoted clientele, along with Nelson and Joanna Gutierrez, the owners of the bustling shop, will hit the television airwaves as early as next week in a commercial for Open, the American Express small business credit card. American Express picked Strictly Bicycles, Joanna said, from a list of 30 small businesses in the region that they were considering for a part of their series of ads profiling small business owners. “They interviewed everyone ad they thought ours was the best story and would make a good commercial,” she said. The dog daycare will hold its grand opening Saturday afternoon.
Fort Lee’s high-end dog daycare will cut the ribbon Saturday, gearing up to give a vacationing families’ pets a vacation of their own this summer season. Dog On It opened five months ago on Bridge Plaza North, offering what owner Bridgette Pursley calls a “luxury” boarding for the pets of many commuters passing on their way to the George Washington Bridge. The daycare provides a curbside service that picks up the dogs for a morning walk and a full day’s stay. “It’s kind of like we give a home away from home for the spoiled dog,” says Pursley, who came into the business after finding that there were few options to give her own pets a comfortable stay while she was away. “I created the type of business that my dog would have loved,” she …
