BM: The problem with your side of the debate is that the "counterfeit BM" is more intelligent, more educated, more creative, wittier, and generally makes a better "Billy Mays". If you stopped polluting the Patch with your inane, offensive comments, the "imposter" would not be using you for target practice. If you used your real name, displayed some real courage, you could take your shots and let people shoot back. Your alter ego then would have no reason to exist. The superior BM is your creation.

Billy, for you to comment, "You like to selectively look at things because of your selfish needs," is one the biggest hypocritical statements I have ever seen. Your comments are offensive because you constantly feel the need to tell people how much money you supposedly have and how situations in this town directly affect you and your family. You rarely look at things in the best interest of the overall community so for you to make that comment about Howard is the pot calling the kettle. I haven't seen or read any of the comments from your impersonator, but the fact that it is not your real name kind of takes away the defamation of character issue.

My only comments regarding any of Howard's posts were to point out that unlike many in this community, he dedicates his time and effort to helping coach a variety of youth sports. I do not know him personally and have not read much of what he may have put on this site so I cannot speak to whether I agree or disagree with his opinions.

Look, the Billy Mays that started out on Patch was witty, sometimes antagonistic, but always added an edge to the conversation.

I heard recently a saying recently that resonated with me, 'I stand by what I say but not by what you hear'---- it reminds me how diverse our internalizations can be of another's word and how the reader or listener needs to take responsibility for their interpretation.

Keep in mind that my original premise of using a pseudonym of a dead person, and the pièce de résistance of going one better and using his photograph as my very own, does make it difficult to have any worthwhile credibility.

I do suffer from an inferiority complex, and combined with delusions of grandeur too, it makes for a difficult personality that is not liked, or even tolerated, by people in general. So my own recourse is to exaggerate how much money I earn and have; puff up how much I know about just about anything and everything; and in general what a smart, intelligent, bon vivant I truly am.

I happen to be one of the very best Patch has to offer; and I want everyone to know it.

I do, however, enjoy being a target of the alleged "fake Billy Mays". I'm starving for attention and confirmation of my existential life, boring and unchallenged as it is. I'll take personal attention no matter where it comes from or the source, friendly or otherwise.

The editor Erik is actually violating Patch terms because he just wants to shut me up from all my complaining. But I do love the attention. It colorizes my otherwise black and white life.

It's tough being me...even I'm not me because the real Billy Mays, the exuberant infomecial star who hawked OxiClean, Mighty Putty and other household products, unfortunately, has passed away on June 28, 2009, of heart failure at the age of 50.

I have taken the liberty of using one of his photographs without anyone's permission, so in addition to other things, I'm a thief.

Tracy: To keep it simple. When you endorse someone like BM, you yourself lose credibility. His comments generally lack wit and true candor.
Even this forum is just an excuse to make himself more important than he is in actuality. If he admits to having falsified his profile, how can you possibly give credibility to anything he says or does? He snipes at people from the shadows as uses the Patch to escape from the fact that he is not liked or respected in real life. Perhaps, he should be more focused on altering his real life persona for the better and spend less time perpetuating the Patch persona!

Anonymous bloggers are the bane of the internet. They are sexless wraiths, with no real identify, taking no responsibility for their comments. That takes no courage. There are no ramifications in real life for their comments on blogs. On that basis alone, they deserve harsh criticism for not having the courage of their convictions.
