Town Preparing for Impending Storm, Police Chief Says
The Fort Lee Police Department is asking residents to remove all vehicles from streets that prohibit parking during snow to provide access to plows and emergency service vehicles.
Police Chief Keith Bendul said preparations are being made throughout the borough in anticipation of the impending winter storm predicted to hit Bergen County early Friday and continue through Saturday afternoon, causing blizzard conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, 6-12 inches of snow is predicted to fall, along with accompanying sleet and freezing rain. Visibility could be limited to several hundred feet due to heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain. Driving conditions may be "dangerous."
The Fort Lee Police Department is asking residents who live on streets with NO PARKING WHEN ROAD IS SNOW COVERED signs for their cooperation in moving their vehicles so that plows and emergency vehicles can get through.
The municipal parking lots are always available for residents, Bendul said.
Patch will be providing updates as they become available.
