Special-Needs Housing Planned in Fort Lee

Public hearing set for July

The Fort Lee council has approved an ordinance paving the way for the borough's first special-needs housing project, NorthJersey.com reported.

Under the plan, an approximately half-acre area at the eastern end of Main Street at Prestige Auto Body would be turned into a 16-story high-rise building, the report said. The complex will be used for "low and moderate" income residents. Although already approved by the Planning Board, the council had to pass a redevelopment plan for the project.

The council is also set to hold a public hearing July 18 on a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes proposal with developer Fred Daibes, according to the report.
