'Race the Palisades' Coming Sunday

More than 500 runners expected to run from Cliffside Park through Fort Lee on Sunday, May 19.

Runners will be lacing up their sneakers for diabetes research for the annual "Run the Palisades" 5K and 10K run/walk.

The race, in its fifth year, will start from Cliffside Park High School and make its way through Fort Lee on Sunday, May 19. Runners line up at 10 a.m. for the 5K and 10:30 a.m. for the 10K.

More than 500 walkers/runners are expected to participate, all raising money for diabetes research and outreach through the Diabetes Foundation.

Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich paired with Cliffside Park Mayor Gerry Calabese to help organize the event, utilizing support from municipal departments and the local school boards.

The event also features a health fair, where local hospital staff and physicians will provide screenings of blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, as well as eye and foot exams, all free of charge. A number of vendors in health, wellness, fitness will be on hand.

Awards will be given out in all age categories. You can register at this website. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m.
