Assistant at Fort Lee Medical Office Charged With Sexual Assault
The 29-year-old Metuchen man is alleged to have touched two different women on separate visits to SBK Medical Group on Center Avenue in December, according to authorities.
A Metuchen man was charged Wednesday with sexual assault and criminal sexual contact after he allegedly touched two different women “in a sexual manner” at a medical office in Fort Lee, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli announced.
Two women told detectives that Gung T. “Dan” Kim, 29, who works at SBK Medical Group at 2083 Center Ave. in Fort Lee, allegedly sexually abused them on separate visits to the clinic in December, Molinelli said.
The first alleged victim told Fort Lee police that Kim touched her breasts and vaginal area during an exam on Dec. 21. The second woman reported that on Dec. 29, Kim touched her vaginal area while performing a procedure that she didn’t request or authorize, according to Molinelli.
Both incidents are alleged to have occurred while Kim was alone with the women, according to authorities, who also said that Kim is not a licensed physician or nurse, but rather an assistant to the physicians at the Edison Kidney Center, Edison Nephrology, LLC in Edison and its affiliated office in Fort Lee.
On Wednesday, members of the Fort Lee Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Kim after a joint investigation, charging him with one count of second degree sexual assault and one count of fourth degree criminal sexual contact, authorities said.
Judge Donald Venezia set Kim’s bail at $50,000 with no 10 percent option and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victims. Kim was also ordered to surrender his passport and was prohibited from working at either of the medical offices, authorities said.
Kim was subsequently released on bail, Molinelli said.
