Local Filmmaker Seeks Community Support for Next Project

Fort Lee’s Peter Macaluso needs to raise $3,000 by March 3 through Kickstarter.com for a film called “Finite.”

Filmmaker Peter Macaluso, a 2006 graduate of Fort Lee High School and current resident of the borough, is seeking community support for his latest feature-length project.

The drama "Finite," will “follow the birth and death of a relationship,” according to Macaluso’s production company, Macarony Productions.

"Our last three features were romantic comedies, and now we want to make a great drama," said Macaluso, a self-taught, self-financed filmmaker, who is currently using Kickstarter.com in an effort to get his latest project funded.

The organization promotes “all or nothing funding,” meaning a project has to reach a funding goal in a limited period of time or “no money changes hands,” according to Macarony Productions, the company the Fort Lee filmmaker founded in 2005.

Macaluso hopes to raise $3,000 by his March 3 deadline.

“I've made three feature length movies by the age of 23, but I need help," Macaluso said. "With the help of my team, we've made all our features for less than $3,500 each. Now with the help of an organization like Kickstarter.com we can give ourselves more financial freedom to make a leap forward, as well as give others the opportunity to take part in and support the creative process."

A recent graduate of Rutgers University, Macaluso has directed short films and music videos in addition to the feature films, “Mack Hanglider” (2009), “Stay Single,” which was featured at the 2010 Garden State Film Festival, and “11/11/11.”

Keep up the good work Peter. It doesn't seem so many years ago when you were in Fort Lee High School and you made the finals of our Fort Lee Film Commission Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow High School Student Film Fest. If you shoot this film in Fort Lee come see me and we will work on getting you locations.
