Fort Lee In Sandy's Aftermath
Sandy threw quite a punch at Fort Lee, knocking down trees and wires; many portions of town without power.
In the aftermath of Sandy, Fort Lee found its streets littered with downed trees, wires and telephone poles. From the Junction at the base of Abbot Boulevard north to Coytesville, large large portions of the town are without power. PSE&G's outage map estimates that more than 10,000 households are without power in Fort Lee as of Tuesday.
Mayor Mark Sokolich issued a State of Emergency for Fort Lee Tuesday declaring an immediate pedestrian curfew between 6pm to 6am and suspending all Halloween activities for Wednesday. Police are authorized to close any roadway at their discretion if they deem it unsafe and residents are being asked to conserve water. Also, all garbage collection is suspended until further notice.

I haven't seen any utility services trying to restore power lines. Neighbourhoods after neighborhoods without total darkness, no traffic lights and no one in a hurry to fix it...

The utilities are working but the reason why you don't see much of them is that they are working to get the sub stations back online. A lot of their manpower is being dedicated to that effort. The rest are clearing power lines and restoring poles and dangers to life and property. You don't want a section to go live and have someone happen to be near a downed line. There was a great amount of damage to the infrastructure, They have to have that fixed first before they can work on the power lines. If there's no power going out then they can't pinpoint exact areas affected by the downed lines. Once that happens in the next several days then things will return to normal fairly quickly

Donna, it's "Arcadian Way", there is no "Arcadia Avenue" in Fort Lee. Please correct.

this is susan boni from frames of mine 100 main street,i live in nyack new york,on the hudson,we have power on in my home,not much else around,the store has power,we will try to get htere on wednesday the 7th,we will have heat,coffee,we have a microwave,power up if u want,come in to get warm,stay all day,i don't want u to feel u have to buy anything,please come in to get warm,,,,,see u soon,sounds like u guys r doing a FANTASTIC job in restoration,BRAVO to Fort Lee
