Schweby, is a medium size, senior, female pit bull terrier mix, who was turned in to the shelter by her owner who was living out of a car and had no choice but to turn her in, knowing it was no life for her. The shelter says they hate to see dogs part from their families, especially at her tender age of 13 years. She is sweet as pie and simply enjoys the company of people. The shelter is looking for a home that will take her as she is - a spectacular dog with a wonderful temperament. Schewby is waiting for a caring family willing to fill her last few years with happiness and love. Schewby has become a volunteer and staff favorite. She has been patiently waiting for her new family. Come meet this sweet girl and ask for her by name.
Loveable and sweet, Blackie does not act his age at all. At 10 years old, this handsome Labrador Retriever Basset Hound mix looks great and seems to feel like a million bucks. He will still need plenty of walks and exercise to keep his mind and body active. Blackie is here because his owners could no longer care for him but that doesn't seem to spoil his high spirits. Vocal and alarming, he does know how to demand attention. That's something his family will have to work on if they don't want to hear the howling at all hours. Social and charming, Blackie will definitely be the life of the party.
Rex is a very sweet and gentle guy. He loves to be pet and really enjoys cat nip toys. Rex seems to get along ok with the other shelter cats.
Blake is a cross between lab and mastiff. At 3-4 years old, he is quite calm and content as an independent fellow but he truly enjoys some good ol' fashioned lovin' too. This well mannered gentleman properly asks for attention so continued positive socialization will be key so he doesn't lose this unique quality. Walks, runs and hand feeding will be great in the bonding process and adopters should be sure to address a minor guarding issue to be sure it does not escalate in the future.
