Fort Lee School Board Announces Location, Meeting Changes

The BOE will hold meetings in the high school library through September while air conditioning is being installed in the auditorium.

The Fort Lee Board of Education will hold all of its regular business meetings for the rest of the summer and through September in the Fort Lee High School library, school district officials announced Tuesday.

The reason for the change, which affects the BOE’s regular business meetings on July 23, Aug. 13, Aug. 27, Sept. 10 and Sept. 24, is because the library has working air conditioning, whereas the high school’s auditorium, where the meetings are usually held, does not—at least not yet.

Business Administrator Cheryl Balletto recently provided an update on construction and repair work approved by Fort Lee voters in January and expected to be completed by the time school opens on Sept. 10.

Included among the eight projects being done this summer is air conditioning in the auditorium.

“The vent has been delivered, and they’ve already started to demolish some of the ceiling to be able to put it in,” Balletto said recently.

The school district also announced Tuesday another slight change in the schedule of upcoming meetings: the public portion of the meeting on Aug. 27 will begin at 8 p.m. with a public hearing on Balletto’s contract for 2012-2013.

The regular business meeting that night will immediately follow the public hearing, according to the school district.

The regular business meetings through Sept. 24 start at 8 p.m. Agendas are typically available by the Friday before each meeting on the school district’s website.

It's an evil plot to destroy us all... Thought I'd start the unnecessary complaints off.
