On Friday, March 1st, Fort Lee School 2 celebrated Read Across America Day. This is an exciting day at many schools across the country, but it was an especially exciting day for School 2 students because they had some surprises.

Special guest readers from the community were invited into the classrooms to read to the students. During their visits, these guest readers had an opportunity to discuss their role in the community with the students and then read a story to the kids.

The children asked alot of interesting questions that all the visitors took the time to answer. Guests included Mayor Mark Sokolich, David Daniel--a School 2 dad and author of Gone Ice Cream Fishing, Detective Vincent Buda--School 2 DARE Educator, Sarah Pardin--a Fort Lee Librarian, Mrs. Rifkin--a former School #2 Librarian, Mr. Daniello--the new Middle School Principal, Ms. Magliozzi--former school 2 guidance counselor, Fire Chief Mark Sulcov, Police Chief Keith Bendul, Deputy Police Chief Tim Ford and Dr. Sharon Amato--the Assistant Superintendent of Fort Lee Schools. Even the Editor of Fort Lee Patch was invited to read to the students and discuss what an editor does.

It was an exciting and rewarding day for all involved and the kids had a great time.

The kids had an amazing day!! What better way to enjoy a good book than to have it read by someone who works in your community!
