Fort Lee Girls Recreation Basketball Has Exciting Third Week

Fort Lee Girls rec teams had a two-way first place tie leading into this week's games.

The Fort Lee Girls Recreation Basketball League season is turning out to be an exciting one so far. The league's third week started with two teams tied for first place.

Those teams had their showdown Saturday at the gym. The Luppino Homes team, coached by Billy Broderick and Charlie Luppino, faced off against an Allied Metal team coached by Tara Trovato and Jim Cockinos.

The two teams started off slowly and evenly matched during the first quarter. But in the second quarter, the Allied Metal team pulled ahead and stayed their for good. The final score of the hard-played feature game was 20-11.

Coach Tara Trovato of Allied Metal was asked how it felt to coach the first place team.

“The girls are all working hard and it’s all about them,” said the first-year coach.

League President Mike Klein was excitied about how well the teams played and gave credit to all his coaches.

"Tara Trovato is a good coach, who is a real asset to the program" Klein said.

The Girls Rec Basketball season is turning out to be an exciting one.
