Fort Lee, Edgewater Agree to Share Electrical Engineer

Employee to design radio amplification systems so first responders can communicate in high-rise buildings.

Facing the same difficulties with first responders communicating while in high rise buildings, Edgewater and Fort Lee officials have entered an agreement to share an electrical engineer.

In 2012, Edgewater hired Applied Adaptive Solutions, a firm that designs engineering amplication systems in buildings.

"Since Edgewater and Fort Lee share this same issue due to large scale residential developments such as high rises, we have entered into an agreement whereby Edgewater will act as the lead agency in having our electrical engineer work with building owners in designing radio amplification systems," Edgewater wrote on its website.

Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich said the agreement was made to be proactive.

“Fort Lee takes a lot of pride in our 911 system and also our radios. So we have new radios and we thought it to be prudent to engage the services of this electrical engineer. He does a survey to make sure that our emergency service communications will work properly in all of our buildings.”
