Flaming Beemers, Baggio's Moving, Halloween City And Panera Bread?

Just some of the happenings on (or near) Main St.

Flaming Beemers

You never know what you're going to find while driving down Main Street, but a BMW fully engulfed in flames is not something you see everyday. However, our Fort Lee Fire Department was there in record time to put it out while police diverted traffic. In minutes, the fire was extinguished while pedestrians and students (just dismissed from Christ the Teacher elementary school) looked on in awe. (Full Story)

New Home for Baggios

Curious to see if any new business was moving into Mo Pho's old space, we went to take a look. Hanging in the window was a sign that read "Coming soon! . Opening in two weeks." Workmen were going in and out of the space getting the place ready. Baggios is one of our favorite restaurants and we're happy to see that they're moving only steps away. It's refreshing to see a business moving in, rather than moving out.

Halloween City in Borders Space

Halloween City officially opened its doors Thursday in the space that formerly occupied Borders. For anyone that has made the annual pilgrimage of horror to Party City in Edgewater, you will be thrilled that Halloween City is in town. Although owned by Party City, Halloween City (formerly Halloween USA) is Party City's seasonal sister.

This is your one-stop shopping destination for everything Halloween -- the store is filled to the brim with walls of masks, aisles of costumes and every type of indoor and outdoor decoration you can imagine. They even have a small shoe department to make your look completely authentic. And don't leave without a smog and strobe light machine!

If you or your child aren't sure what you want to dress as, Halloween City will either solve your dilema or make you dizzy with choices. From Elvis to Elmo, Big Bird to Bart Simpson, there's a costume for everyone.

If it's props you want, it's props they have. They have a large selection of life-sized motion-sensor skeletons, spiders, witches and corpses. They carry just about every type of bloodied limb if it's gore you're going for, and they have a seemingly endless assortment of swords, light sabers and scythes.

This Sunday Halloween City is having a "Friends & Family" discount--30 percent off your entire purchase with a coupon. Halloween City has given many of the local merchants these coupons to hand out to their customers, or you can ask Halloween City if they have any--but ask before Sunday. Their website also offers discount coupons as well.

Halloween City is opened now through Nov. 2. Their hours are Mon-Sat, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sun, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Halloween City is located inside the Borders Shopping Plaza, 1642 Schlosser St.

Guess who's moving in?

Word has it that Panera Bread is moving into the downstairs of the old Borders and a gym (name not yet confirmed) is moving in upstairs. A Panera Bread in Fort Lee? A great place to meet friends and grab a bite.
