Dorothy C. Brennan, 98

Lifelong Fort Lee resident, mother; Memorial Mass is Jan. 18.

 

Dorothy C. Brennan, 98, of Fort Lee, NJ, passed away Jan. 5 at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ.

She was born in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 22, 1913, the daughter of Dr. Clarence A. Connor and Charlotte Connor, and moved to Fort Lee when she was two months old. She was predeceased by her brother, Clarence, her husband, John Joseph Brennan, and her daughter, Carol Brennan. She is survived by her daughter Donna L. Brennan of Fort Lee.

After Dorothy's husband passed away at the age of 51, Dorothy took charge of raising her daughters. She acquired a master's degree in library science from Columbia University and worked as an assistant director at the Fort Lee Library until her retirement. 

She attended Holy Angels Academy in Fort Lee; Mount St. Vincent in Yonkers, N.Y.; and Columbia University in New York City. 

A Memorial Mass will take place in her honor on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Madonna Church on Hoefley's Lane in Fort Lee.

In lieu of flowers, donations may go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 22 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.

Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Dorothy knew what a beautiful and remarkable woman she was. Donna, my thoughts are with you.
