The artwork of local artist Joanne Hayes remains on display in the Atrium Gallery on the Fort Lee Public Library’s lower level through Thursday. This week’s film at the library is Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf? (1966), directed by Mike Nichols and starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, George Segal and Sandy Dennis.

Number four

The Fort Lee High School cheerleaders perform their Nationals routine at the Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Fort Lee Community Center. The exhibition is intended for middle school and elementary school girls, but parents are welcome and tryouts will be coming up in May or June. The high school cheerleading squad leaves Friday for Williamsburg, VA, where they will compete in the ECA/Americheer National Competition on Saturday. This is the 14th year Fort Lee is competing at Nationals, and they have finished in the top 10 for the past eight years.

Number five:

The subject of a story on Patch last week, the Elder abuse conference, “Elder Justice: From Abuse to Prosecution,” is Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bergen Community College’s Moses Family Meeting and Training Center in Paramus. The conference will include presentations by Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli, Bergen County Judges Peter Doyne and Michael R Dressler and forensic and geriatric psychiatrist Dr. Bennett Blum, a national authority on undue influence, elder competency and behavior manipulation. For more information or to register for the conference, contact SAAFE (the organization Save the Abused and Frail Elderly) at 551-795-0471.
