Black Friday 2012: Show Us Your Lines

Find deals on Twitter and Instagram via our Black Friday New Jersey hashtag #bfnj

On Thanksgiving, timing is everything — proper coordination between bird, beans and stuffing can be the difference between the perfect stress-free meal with loved ones or a complete kitchen catastrophe.

On Black Friday, getting on the right line at just the right time might save you hours and help you snag that perfect gift at a once-in-a-lifetime price.

Patch is here to turn that dream into a reality and make smart shopping on Black Friday ridiculously easy.

Find us on Instagram and Twitter and connect with us and local readers via our Black Friday New Jersey hashtag #bfnj.

We'll be sharing up-to-the-minute deals, 140-character anecdotes, and photos and video from the front lines of consumerism.

Show us those long lines, share your holiday horror stories, upload photos of people losing their cool over the hottest holiday tsotchkes, or just send a shout out to your hometown.

When you're bored on line on your smartphone Friday updating Twitter or Instagram, just make sure to type our simple hashtag "#bfnj" at the end of every message.

It's an easy way to make sure Patch editors — and your local community — see what's going on at the mall or your local stores.

It's sad that people can't be more productive than waiting in line for hours to save a few $ on something that they don't really need.

At least spend more time with your friends and family. That's what they holiday season is all about.

See Video LINK: of shopping in Ridgewood NJ in the 1920s was a great place to shop.
No parking meters, lots of stores to visit and so much more.

Special thank you to Ridgewood Patch editor James. for allowing the above special LINK video to be live.

Those photos reminded me what the business district looked like. Perhaps, the Chamber of Commerce might take a second look to refresh some memories.

The next great movement in holiday retail shopping will be "Click Friday." With the trends of online and at home shopping, theres no doubt it will someday rival Black Friday as the Interne alternative on that launch day for the holiday season.

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving Day with the entire family from Grandparents through Grandchildren and friends. Three generations unfortunately not four generations. Turkey and traditional prayer before dinner. No shopping for anyone. Everyone went home last night with good memories, including the children, to build their futures on.

Who's to say that these families you're feeling so superior to didn't all shop together and have a grand old time?

Same here HSR. So sad that families can't even spend a full holiday day together and enjoy their moments together. Maybe "families" just don't care about quality time....nothing in common to share with each other. Sad times,

I personally think Black Friday is ridiculous and I never take part...but just because someone does go shopping on Black Friday does not mean they don't care about their family. That's just ridiculous and incredibly judgmental...

My son and I went to Sports Authority at 10am today. His excitement mirrored Christmas as he finally got to use all the gift cards he'd received as birthday presents over the summer. He'd been wanting to make some big ticket purchases but had been hesitant to pull the trigger for a while. We were in and out in 10 minutes and he saved $90. While there, I picked up a bunch of stuff I need for all the volunteer coaching I do. I saved $90 as well.

I think that's the best idea I've heard yet MM, regarding all this ridiculous Black Friday hype.

Isn’t the next busiest day the day after Christmas—when everyone is already lining up to return the gifts they didn’t care for so they can commence fighting to buy different crap?

MM needs some anger management. What's bothering you so much to make you that pretentious and cynical?

"Clyde" seriously? You're calling someone else pretentious and cynical? Has the world gone mad? I guess it takes one to know one...

Hi MountainMan--That would only punish the workers, not the company owners.

takemethere2 - Happy to say we all had a wonderful dinner on Thanksgiving without shopping. The whole family and the Grandchildren played games after dinner. A great day for us all. And you know what we still have time for shopping and looking for good deals. But we also have good memories that you can't get back.

Do you ever suffer muscle strain from constantly patting yourself on the back, or get halo burns?

Wow, everyone needs to relax! This article is about Black Friday shopping, not Thanksgiving shopping! I spent a wonderful day with my family on Thursday and was out shopping on Friday! You can do both when it's 2 different days!!

Exactly...I personally never shop on Black Friday, but what is with the accusations that doing so makes you a bad person that lacks family values? People are so judgmental.
