A Girlfriends' Getaway Guide for Moms Who Need More 'Me Time'
A weekly column on issues in mothering. Ask away, moms!
Q: I love my two toddlers, but the constant refrain of ‘mommy, do this; mommy, I want; mommy I need’ is driving me to drink. I need a break so I can reconnect to the ‘me’ I lost when I became a mother. My friend feels the same. Where should we go?
A: An informal poll of my FB mom friends showed that when women allow themselves to take off on a girls’ getaway once or twice a year, they come back renewed and feel more appreciated by their families (at least for a little while). Thankfully, hotels, resorts and spas are realizing the “mommy market” is a viable one and are featuring “girlfriend getaways” galore. Here, I rate eight that are great.

Board of Dreams
Q: My kids attend public school in Fort Lee. I disagree with some of the decisions that have been made by the school board for budget reasons (especially letting teachers go that my kids loved). How can I best voice my opinion and have it heard?
A: Share your thoughts on Patch’s Local Voices or leave a comment. Or, speak up at the next public school board meeting, held on either the first and third or second and fourth Mondays of the month at 8 p.m. at the School No. 1 library at 250 Hoym Street.
